True to his word, Kevin arrived quickly, his presence a welcome relief. His footsteps echoed up the narrow staircase, each creak of the wood announcing his approach.
« So, show me this magic wall, » he said, grinning as he entered the attic.

Kevin approached it with a contractor’s eye, tapping here and there, listening with a practiced ear. « What did it look like exactly? » he asked.
« Like it was breathing, » I replied, feeling foolish as soon as the words left my mouth.

Kevin retrieved a small toolkit from his car and began the careful process of cutting into the drywall. I held my breath as he worked, the sound of the knife slicing through plaster unnervingly loud in the quiet attic.
Finally, he pulled back a section of the wall, revealing a dark cavity. At first, there was nothing unusual, just a space between the studs. But then, something glimmered in the shadows.
Kevin reached in cautiously, pulling out a small object wrapped in a faded cloth. The fabric crumbled at his touch, revealing a delicate silver locket.
« Well, that’s not what I expected, » he said, holding it up to the light.
