« We’re trying, » I replied with a small smile, feeling a sense of accomplishment despite the uphill battle.
My spouse squeezed my hand, a silent thank you for standing by their side during this ordeal. We left the office with a clearer path forward, knowing that the journey wasn’t over but feeling more equipped to handle whatever came next.
In the car, my spouse turned to me, their expression earnest. « Thank you for pushing through, » they said. « I couldn’t have done this alone. »
