Despite Alex’s calm demeanor, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to this appointment than met the eye. Over the next few days, I watched them more closely, noting the way they seemed slightly more distracted, their phone more often in hand, with messages they never shared.
Thursday arrived, and with it, the « Appointment. » I knew Alex would be leaving the house this time, an unusual occurrence since they usually worked from home. As they prepared to leave, I asked again, « Do you need anything for your meeting today? »
