Broadus is the youngest of Snoop Dogg’s children and his only daughter with his wife of 28 years, Shante Broadus, whom he also shares sons Corde, 31, and Cordell, 28.

Codi had been born three months premature and had spent an extended period of 10 months in the neonatal intensive care unit following her arrival in February 2025.

Cori had previously shared a post on her social media when she was finally able to bring her baby girl home.

In the post, which showed a picture of her snuggling Codi on her bed, she wrote: « She’s home. « Thank you for every prayer, every message, every ounce of love. God heard them all. »In her Instagram Story posted on Saturday, Cori wrote: « Monday; I lost the love of my life. My Codi, » followed by an emoji of an angel wing.

Her fiancé and Cori’s father, Wayne Deuce, also paid tribute to the couple’s daughter with his own social media post.

“I been the saddest since u left me Codi Dreaux, » he wrote, with the post also showing a picture of him holding his baby daughter.

« But I know u at peace, » he added. « Daddy will always love you. My baby. »

Cori had first announced she was expecting in an interview with E! News in December 2024.

In the interview, she confirmed the date that she found out that she was expecting, telling the outlet: « I found out October 28. »

Cori had gone on to explain that she was considered to be a ‘high-risk pregnancy’, adding: « Doctors were very concerned for me and the baby, but God has his hands on me. »In a social media post on February 28 2025, confirming Codi’s birth three months early, she said: “The princess arrived at 6 months. I’ve cried and cried, I’ve compared and compared, blaming myself that I wasn’t able to give her all that she needed.

« But no matter what God always shows me that I’m His Child!”

She added: “Baby girl came at 25 weeks today and she’s perfect as ever! Thank You God for getting me this far no matter the odds that are constantly thrown against me.”

Following Codi’s birth, Cori later revealed that she’d undergone a C-section after doctors told her that she was developing Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelets, or HELLP, syndrome.

Preeclampsia Foundation describes this condition as a ‘life-threatening pregnancy complication’ which is considered to be a type of preeclampsia, a serious blood pressure disorder caused by blood vessels not fully transforming during pregnancy.

A response Snoop Dogg appeared to give after backlash over a ‘homophobic’ comment he made during a podcast appearance has been branded as ‘fake’.

It all started when the 53-year-old rapper took one of his grandsons to the movies to watch Lightyear, a prequel to the beloved Toy Story films.

In the Pixar movie, one of the main characters has two moms in a same-sex relationship.

During an interview on the It’s Giving podcast, Snoop claimed he was ‘scared to go to the movies’ after he recalled his grandson asking questions about the relationship.

He said: « They’re putting it everywhere […] They’re like, ‘She had a baby – with another woman’. Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!' »I didn’t come in for this sh*t. I just came to watch the goddamn movie. »

The rapper then went on to claim he was ‘scared to go to the movies’ as a result of the situation, saying: « Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh*t that I don’t have an answer for. »

After a clip of the interview was shared on Reddit, people were quick to accuse him of being homophobic.

One user said the comments were ‘blatantly [sic] homophobic of Snoop’, as another wrote: « It’s only hard to explain if you’re homophobic and trying to hide the existence of gay people to your children. »

In the wake of the backlash, a post emerged which appeared to show the 16-time Grammy winner addressing the criticism.

After Hollywood Unlocked reposted a video of media personality TS Madison discussing the backlash the rapper had received on Instagram, an account attributed to Snoop took to the comments to explain he was just ‘caught off guard’ and asked the LGBTQ+ community to ‘teach me how to learn.’The comment read: « I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons. All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love.

« My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect. »

However, Deadline later reported that a source close to Snoop said he had not issued a response, and a look through the rapper’s social media feeds found no evidence of the supposed comment.

“It is a fake,” the source said.

The news comes after Lightyear screenwriter Lauren Gunderson previously defended her decision to include a same-sex relationship in the film.

« I’m proud of it. To infinity. Love is love, » she wrote on Instagram. « I was proud to see a happy queer couple (even for a few seconds) onscreen. I know they got a lot of sh*t for this inclusion, but stuff like this matters because beautiful love like this exists. »

After being accused of making a bizarre ‘homophobic’ comment about a children’s movie, Snoop Dogg has used the criticism he’s faced as a learning moment.

Before we get into what the rapper has done, we need to divulge what he said back in August to receive heat from the LGBTQ+ community.

While appearing as a guest on the It’s Giving podcast, the 53-year-old – who is due to celebrate his 54th birthday on Monday (October 20) – claimed he was ‘scared to go to the movies’ after he recalled his grandson asking questions about a relationship in Lightyear – the Toy Story spin-off that was released in 2022.

He said: « They’re putting it everywhere […] They’re like, ‘she had a baby – with another woman’. Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’.

« I didn’t come in for this s***. I just came to watch the goddamn movie. »

Before adding: « Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh*t that I don’t have an answer for. »

After it aired, the ‘Young, Wild & Free’ hitmaker was accused of being homophobic and faced a tidal wave of criticism.

Now, the hip-hop icon has confirmed he’s working on a new kids’ track titled ‘Love Is Love’.

Snoop has collaborated with GLAAD [Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation] to champion LGBTQ+ representation for its annual Spirit Day, following the backlash he faced over remarks about two women kissing in Lightyear.

In a discussion shared to his YouTube channel yesterday, the ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ rapper sat down with Jeremy Beloate – an openly queer artist and former contestant on The Voice who recently signed to Snoop’s Death Row Records.

“It’s a beautiful thing that kids can have parents of all walks [of life], and be able to be shown love, and be able to be taught what love is,” the Californian explained, speaking about his new campaign.

He went on to note how ‘hate is taught and so is love’, before stressing the importance of celebrating love, ‘whether it’s two fathers, two mothers, whatever it is, love is the key’.

Snoop continued: “I think these kids are being loved by these great parents [who] are showing them an example of what family is. So, I wanna give a shoutout to all of the parents out there for doing such a great job with these kids.”

The rapper, who has seven grandkids, said he wants to use his platform to make a difference.

« I have the opportunity to teach these kids through my music, » he added.
