When my brother arrived, the tension in the air seemed to dissipate slightly. We sat at the kitchen table, the document spread out before us like a map leading to an uncertain destination.

« I don’t get it, » he said, shaking his head as he flipped through the pages. « Why would she do this now? »

« I don’t know, » I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. « But Mr. Jackson said it involves reallocating assets. I just can’t figure out why, or what that means for us. »

We spent the next hour going over the document line by line, cross-referencing any terms we didn’t understand with online resources. It was a meticulous process, but slowly, the pieces began to fall into place.

« So, it looks like she’s shifting ownership of the lake house and some stocks, » my brother said, pointing to the relevant sections. « But why take it out of the trust? »

I shrugged, feeling the weight of uncertainty pressing down on me. « Maybe she has other plans for it, » I suggested, though the words felt hollow.

As we sat in silence, a thought occurred to me. « What if this is just the beginning? What if there’s more she’s not telling us? »

My brother nodded, his expression mirroring my own concern. « We need to talk to her, » he said firmly, determination lacing his words.
