A handful of Republican lawmakers have branded Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show as an ‘illegal’ act and called for a formal investigation to be launched.
Entirely in Spanish, the Puerto Rican singer made a statement during his 13-minute show on Sunday (February 8), with his ability to get people up and dancing, while celebrating his culture and that of those across the US on the world stage.
Not only did he have touching messages hidden in plain sight, but he left fans gobsmacked and raving online when a number of surprise guests made an appearance.

But Republicans Randy Fine and Andy Ogles have asked for the lyrics of Bad Bunny’s songs, ‘Tití Me Preguntó,’ ‘NUEVAYoL’, and ‘DtMF’ to be analyzed in light of claims they contain explicit material.Taking to X on Monday (February 9), Fine claimed: “You can’t say the f-word on live TV.”
Just one day later, Fine then posted a letter he sent to Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr, where he said the ‘woke garbage we witnessed on Super Bowl Sunday needs to be INVESTIGATED and put to an END’.
The Republican, who has represented the state’s 6th Congressional District since April 2025, claimed that ‘real Americans’ were ‘outraged by the vulgar, indecent, and offensive content’.
« The degenerates behind it must be held accountable, » he added while naming NBCUniversal, which broadcast the game, as well as the National Football League (NFL).
He added: « … If they knowingly allowed this content to air, then dramatic action, including fines and the revocation of broadcast licenses, should be taken. »
Ogles similarly sent a letter about the show, but he instead chose to approach the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The representative called the performance ‘pure smut, brazenly aired on national television for every American family to witness’.In his letter, he also asked for an inquiry into the NFL and NBC over their ‘prior knowledge, review, and approval’.
« Children were forced to endure explicit displays of gay sexual acts, women gyrating provocatively, and Bad Bunny shamelessly grabbing his crotch while dry-humping the air, » Ogles wrote on X, adding: « And if that weren’t outrageous enough, the performance’s lyrics openly glorified sodomy and countless other unspeakable depravities. These flagrant, indecent acts are illegal to be displayed on public airways. »
He then claimed that the songs ‘Safaera’ and ‘Yo Perreo Sola’ featured sexual content that is ‘readily apparent across any language barrier’.
However, Axios debunked claims that the singer used the ‘f-word’ and reported that Bad Bunny actually bleeped out se*ually explicit words, or shortened his songs by taking out some of the more suggestive stuff.
Jill Zarin has been fired from the upcoming series The Golden Life following her comments about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show.
It was recently confirmed that E! News would be going ahead with the Real Housewives of New York reunion series, but Zarin will now not be part of the project.
Blink49 Studios told Variety of its decision to axe her: « In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in The Golden Life. We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values. »
The move comes after Zarin made some unsavoury comments about Bad Bunny in a now-deleted video shared to Instagram on during the Super Bowl. »I just don’t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish, » the reality TV star said of his performance.
She went on to say that it was ‘totally inappropriate’ that the Puerto Rican singer was supposedly ‘grabbing his [groin] area’ in light of the young audiences watching and also questioned if he was ‘insecure’.
« You’ve got all these young kids watching the Super Bowl, and he doesn’t have to be grabbing himself every five seconds because he’s so insecure. Seriously, » Zarin fumed.
She continued to say (as per Us Weekly): « I don’t speak Spanish. I would’ve liked to have known the words he was saying. To me, it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing. »
In light of being dropped from The Golden Life for her remarks, Zarin has spoken out and alluded that what she said was wrong.
« They didn’t even give me a chance, » Zarin told In Touch of her firing, adding: « I took [the video] down right away. People make mistakes. I’m human. »While Zarin will not be part of the show, Luann de Lesseps, Jill Zarin, Ramona Singer, Kelly Bensimon, and Sonja Morgan will be, said E! News.
The synopsis for The Golden Life reads: « Bound by decades of shared history, fallouts and friendship, this fan-favorite group of New Yorkers are starting fresh together in the Sunshine State.
« In this new ‘golden’ era of life, the longtime friends are thriving in and around Palm Beach with fabulous second homes and a bustling social scene. With their signature humor and non-stop hijinks, the series will follow the group as they navigate dating, family, and career milestones. »
It’s expected that the new show will air later this year.
Erika Kirk has shared a montage of the late right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk, while reflecting on Turning Point USA’s ‘incredible’ alternate Super Bowl halftime show.
Yesterday (February 8), Bad Bunny headlined the 2026 Super Bowl halftime performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The Puerto Rican musician – real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – made history as the first male solo Latin artist to perform at the NFL’s halftime show.
Bad Bunny’s performance didn’t sit too well with the likes of Donald Trump, though. And the late Charlie Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, even decided to create an alternate halftime show altogether.
The show starred none other than Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.
And Erika, the new CEO of the organization and wife to Charlie, has since responded, taking to X to share a clip of a montage of her late husband, alongside branding the alternate show ‘so incredible’ and reflecting on what Charlie would’ve thought of it too.Erika shared a 52-second video montage dedicated to her late husband, the right-wing commentator shot dead at an event organized by Turning Point USA which took place at Utah Valley University in September 2025.
A 22-year-old named Tyler Robinson is charged with seven criminal counts in the shooting death of Kirk and appeared in a pre-trial hearing last week.
Erika’s video shows various videos from Charlie’s life, including footage from their wedding and clips of him speaking at events, the montage featuring a voice over by her late husband himself.
« Thank you to the millions that tuned in. I’m so proud of our entire team, staff, and the artists who believed in the vision and mission @KidRock @brantleygilbert @leebrice @GabbyBarrett. »
She added: « It’s okay to love Jesus and your country. Ultimately, this is what it’s all about, making Heaven crowded.…I love you Charlie baby, this is all for you. »
However, not all social media users shared the same enthusiasm for the alternate show.
Shortly after ‘The All American Halftime Show’ went live on YouTube at 8pm ET, people flocked online to weigh in.Another X user wrote: « How was it? I was watching the Super Bowl. »
« The alternative show drew roughly 4 percent as many viewers as the Super Bowl halftime broadcast. Cute! » another claimed.
And a fourth shared a GIF of Homer Simpson pouring bleach in his eyes, adding: « I would rather do this. »
