My fiancée kept her wedding dress secret for months, so I expected the usual dramatic reveal when the ceremony began. Instead, she walked down the aisle in an old black men’s suit, and I had no idea why until I saw the writing inside the cuff.

“Is everything okay?”

Jenna stopped.

For a second, she seemed to be deciding what she could say.

Then she nodded. “Yeah. Claire’s fine.”

That wasn’t exactly what I’d asked.

But she walked away before I could respond.

Aaron appeared beside me. “What was that?”
“I have no idea.”

Still, I wasn’t really worried.

Claire and I had discussed every serious issue I could think of before getting married.

Money. Children. Careers. Where we’d live. How involved our families would be.
