I had no idea at the time that I was looking at something that would become one of my favorite types of vintage collectibles.
And just like that, I was hooked.
Why Are Old Glass Fire Extinguishers Just So Darn Cool?
First of all, they don’t look anything like the fire extinguishers we’re accustomed to seeing today.
Walk into an office, school, hotel, apartment building, or restaurant and you’re likely to encounter the familiar modern extinguisher: a chunky metal cylinder, usually painted bright red, with a hose, pressure gauge, handle, and instructions plastered across the front.
It has one job.
It does that job.
And nobody is going to accuse it of being glamorous.
