Trump was not in attendance at this year’s Super Bowl, after previously claiming that it was ‘too far’ for him to travel.Speaking to the New York Post before the biggest game in the NFL calendar, the president made it clear that he did not like the politics of the artists playing at the Super Bowl, which included the vocally anti-ICE and anti-MAGA Green Day.
Having previously claimed he’d ‘never heard’ of Bad Bunny, Trump said: « I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible. »
So perhaps it is unsurprising that Trump was not moved by the Puerto Rican singer’s performance in a language spoken by over 40 million Americans and 600 million people around the world.
But some of the less subtle messaging in the Latin-infused halftime show likely enraged the president further, with a billboard pointedly reading ‘the only thing more powerful than hate is love’ as the set came to close.
The final shot of the historic halftime performance was Bad Bunny gripping a football while surrounded by Latin American performers. The ball simply read: « Together we are America. »
Bad Bunny has hinted at some details about his highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime show this weekend.
The Puerto Rican rapper will take to the stage at the Apple Music Super Bowl LX halftime show as the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks go head-to-head at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday (February 8).
The announcement that Bad Bunny would be performing has been controversial at best, leading Turning Point USA to create its own alternative halftime show, featuring the likes of Kid Rock and Gabby Barrett.
In the run-up to the Super Bowl, Bad Bunny has been talking more and more about the event. During an appearance at the pregame press conference with Apple Music on February 5, he shared some information about what fans can expect to experience.When hosts Ebro Darden and Zane Lowe asked if he’s going to have anyone up on stage with him, the 31-year-old star replied: “You know that’s something I’m not going to tell you. I don’t know why you ask that.”
However, as far as what viewers can expect, according to Bad Bunny, it’ll be a ‘huge party’.
“I just want to have fun, it’s going to be a huge party … I don’t want to give spoilers, people only need to worry about dancing,” he explained. “They don’t even have to learn Spanish, it’s better if they dance but there’s no better dance that comes from the heart. … Of course, choose your team at the game.”
Bad Bunny went on to share that the aftermath of the Grammys, where he took home three awards, has ‘been a lot’.
He added: “Of course, there is a lot of gratitude. It’s how I’ve been feeling this whole year with the album. The biggest feeling is being grateful. I am taking things one day at a time and just living.”
The rapper went on to say he’s ‘going to have fun’ with ‘the crew, the people’ at the Super Bowl.
“That’s what I’m trying to focus on. Enjoy the moment, what is happening,” Bad Bunny said.
But while he’s stoked and so are many people online, there has been some backlash.“A lot of the MAGA folks apparently are very upset with the NFL. But they’re upset all the time,” Whoopi Goldberg said on The View in September 2025.
She added: “Another great American performer is going to be performing. I don’t see the problem. Because y’all do remember Puerto Rico is part of the United States.”
Even the president of the United States hopped on the train when the news broke that Bad Bunny, who usually performs in Spanish, would be headlining the halftime show.
“I’ve never heard of him,” Donald Trump said in an interview with Newsmax in October 2025. “I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s, like, crazy.”
Bad Bunny is actually very well known on the music scene right now and was one of the most-played artists on Spotify last year, racking up a whopping 19.8 billion streams.

Turning Point USA has released its performance plan for its alternative Super Bowl halftime show – and it has fallen flat with a lot of people.
The show was created to give viewers an alternative to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl 60 event on Sunday, (February 8).
It’s being organized by the late Charlie Kirk’s political establishment, Turning Point USA, currently headed by is widow, Erika who has taken over position as its CEO.
As announced on its website, the All American Halftime Show will include performances from the likes of Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett – but people haven’t taken the news well.
On social media, people have aired their thoughts on the line-up, having previously begged for long-time conservative country singer, Jason Aldean, to participate.Unfortunately for them, he’s not been pegged as a performer.
“Anyone else disappointed? Honestly your marketing team could have did a better job on this flyer and advertising this event,” one person wrote on X.
A second penned: “I’ll be watching but I am a little disappointed in this lineup. Going to struggle getting Gen Z to care.”
“I knew it would be Kid Rock and 3 people I’ve never heard of,” another wrote, as someone else complained: “Y’all remember that TPUSA Halftime show they announced and everyone was like ‘Get Creed’ and ‘I hope they don’t get someone like Kid Rock’. They got Kid Rock….”
However, some were pretty stoked at the prospect of seeing the singers on stage.
One person wrote: “This is going to be massive! Is everyone tuning in?”
Another said: “Can’t wait to see Kid Rock & the crew rock the halftime stage! Who’s your top pick?”As you can expect from this particular crown, there has been some criticism about Bad Bunny potentially performing in Spanish, as he usually does, to an American crowd.

Bad Bunny had a massive historic win at the 2026 Grammys, having took home the Album of the Year on February 1, and has been vocal about sticking to his roots when singing.
During his Saturday Night Live hosting opportunity in October 2025, he hilariously told the audience that they had ‘four months to learn’ Spanish in preparation for his show.
