For years, I convinced myself it was harmless.
Maybe I was too sensitive.

My 27th birthday was the night I finally stopped pretending it didn’t matter.We were having dinner at a nice Italian restaurant, one of those places with white tablecloths, dim lighting, and waiters who refill your water before the glass is even half empty.
I should have been enjoying myself.
