My first instinct was to say something.
“Excuse me?”
The woman rolled her eyes.
“I’m just saying what everyone here is thinking.”
I looked around.
No one had said a word.
Most people were simply waiting.
But that woman seemed determined to make my mother feel as though she had done something wrong by taking a few extra seconds.
Mom finally found her wallet.
She took out her card and slowly reached toward the reader.
