They used to stare when I walked into the adoption office.

But then they placed Marcus in my arms.

Tiny. Quiet. Wrapped in a pale blue blanket with one little fist pressed against his cheek.

And suddenly none of the questions mattered anymore.

I wasn’t thinking about public opinion.
I wasn’t thinking about logistics.
I was thinking:
