Caleb stared at it.
“You came back for me?” he asked.
Bear’s jaw tightened. “I came back because you saved me.”
One of the older riders spoke from behind him. “He didn’t just save you. He stood there after he knew what those boys could do.”
Caleb looked down.
“I just couldn’t watch them hurt somebody who was sick.”
Bear shook his head. “That’s exactly why we’re here.”
He reached into the pocket of his vest and pulled out a small envelope. He held it toward Caleb.
Caleb didn’t take it.
“What is it?”
