Victoria shifted her gaze from one man to the other. “I am speaking calmly. You are the ones being discourteous and detaining citizens without justification. Identify yourselves and explain the cause for this stop.”
Furious, the first trooper flung the paperwork onto the roof of the car. “Get out of the vehicle.”
“On what authority?”
“I said, step out.”
The young woman realized the men were deliberately trying to scare her. She reached for her phone to turn on her camera, but the second officer yanked the door open and grabbed her arm.
“Put that phone away right now.”
“Do not touch me,” Victoria stated firmly. “You are abusing your power.”
That remark pushed the men over the edge. The primary trooper violently dragged the driver out, spun her around, and slammed her against the body of the car. His partner quickly forced her arms behind her back and reached for his cuffs.
“You can spend some time at the station learning some manners,” he muttered, locking the metal bands into place.
Victoria offered no resistance and raised no voice. Instead, she looked back over her shoulder with a steady gaze. “Are you certain you want to proceed with this?”
