I looked at Helen. “Wait. You’ve been talking about me for weeks?”
“It wasn’t like that,” she said.
“Then what was it like, Helen? Because I’m sitting here reading messages between my husband and my best friend about a decision that apparently affects my life.”
“He came to me because he thought I could help.”
“Help him do what?”
“He said he was trying to figure out the right way to tell you.”
“Then why are you showing me this now?”
“Because you posted those pictures this morning,” Helen said. “You looked so happy.” She paused. “And I realized you still had no idea.”
That hurt almost more than the messages did.
