He’d built his empire using my inheritance and financial knowledge.

He’d simply never bothered checking whose name stood behind its foundation.

I tucked the documents into my laptop bag.

Before leaving, I paused in the doorway for one last look.

Vanessa was already relaxing on my sofa.

Daniel wrapped an arm around her.

“Finally,” he whispered. “We can start our real life.”
