The Wrong Table, the Right Man

But charged.

The younger man took a step forward. “You got a problem, buddy?”

Marcus met his eyes.

“No,” he said. “I’ve got a kid at home and a long day behind me. I just don’t like watching three grown men lean on one person over a mistake.”

The diner quieted—not completely, but enough that the edges of conversation softened. People were listening now.
