I stepped outside and shut the door behind me. “You have two minutes.”
“I want to be part of the kids’ lives again.”
I stared at her in disbelief. “Part of their lives… how?”
“Regular visits. Being involved again.”
I laughed because I honestly thought she was joking. “You gave that up. You didn’t just leave me. You abandoned them.”
“I know. But I’m here now.”
“That doesn’t erase five years. Why now?”
She paused. “I finally realized what matters.”
