Mercer leaned forward. “We believe his name is Daniel Voss.”
The name meant nothing to me.
“Believe?”
“He registered at the event under a civilian identification,” she said. “The credentials were valid, but the identity was constructed recently.”
“Then it isn’t an identity.”
“It may be a protected identity.”
“Whose?”
“That is what we are trying to establish.”
I pushed the photograph back across the table. “He was wearing Daniel Mercer’s pin.”
Elaine’s expression changed.
