I Was Handcuffed In My Living Room—Then A Child Spoke Up

The air left my lungs. The man I had vowed to love, the man I had protected from his own insecurities, had just signed my death warrant to save his own skin.

“Ma’am, turn around. Hands behind your back.”

The officer grabbed my arm, twisting it sharply. I gasped in pain. The cold click of metal echoed dryly—Snap. The handcuffs tightened around my wrists, biting into the bone. The shame was hot and suffocating. I closed my eyes, accepting the grim fate, realizing that my life as I knew it was over.

I was alone.
