PART 2: THE FIRST MONTHS
PART 3: THE CHANGE
PART 4: THE NIGHT BEFORE THE ANNIVERSARY
Not because I was afraid of the celebration.
But because I wanted to give Don Baste something special.
Something to prove to her that she had not married him out of obligation.
But because…
Because I loved him.
Not the “monster” everyone saw.
But the man hiding behind him.
The man who cried when no one saw him.
The man who told him his fears.
The man who, little by little, had become his entire world.
That night, while he “slept,” Clara sat next to him.
He took his hand.
And whispered:
Tomorrow is our anniversary. And I want you to know something. I didn’t marry you for my father’s debt. I married you because… because deep down, I knew from the first day you were the goodest man I had ever met.
Don Baste did not answer.
But his hand…
Her hand squeezed hers tightly.
PART 5: THE NIGHT OF THE ANNIVERSARY
The mansion was decorated.
Watchers.
Red roses.
Soft music.
Don Baste had ordered a special dinner.
But when Clara walked into the dining room…
He didn’t find it in his wheelchair.
He found him standing up.
Next to the window.
Back to her.
And something was different.
Something had changed.
“Don Baste…” Clara whispered.
He turned slowly.
And Clara…
Clara screamed.
Not horror.
Not in fear.
Surprisingly.
Because the man in front of her…
It was not the “Millionaire Pig.”
He was not the obese, sweaty, scarred man.
He was a tall man.
Wide shoulders.
Dark hair.
Deep-eyed.
Perfect skin.
Beautiful.
Absolutely, impossibly beautiful.
“What… what happened?” Clara whispered, shaking. Where’s Don Baste?
The man smiled.
A sad smile.
“Clara… Don Baste was always me.
PART 6: THE TRUTH
The man came over.
In his hands he had something.
Some kind of silicone suit.
Wrinkled.
Empty.
Like a “skin” that someone had taken off.
“This,” he said, showing him the suit, “is what I wore to disguise myself. To look obese. To look monstrous. To look like the “Millionaire Pig.”
Clara backed up.
“I don’t understand…
He sighed.
Ten years ago, I had an accident. My car exploded. Burns in ninety percent of my body. Doctors said he would not survive. But I survived.
He touched his face.
I went through thirty-two surgeries. Skin transplants. facial reconstruction. Therapy for years. And in the end… I healed. Completely. Doctors couldn’t believe it. I was the man I was again before the accident.
“Then… why the costume?” Clara asked, with tears in her eyes.
He looked down.
Because when I had the accident, my fiancée left me. He said he could not love a “monster.” That he was going to marry my cousin.
He paused.
“And I understood something. That the world just loved me for my money. Or my appearance. But never for who I was.
He looked at her.
“So I created the Millionaire Pig.” The ugly, fat, repulsive man. To prove people. To see who stayed. Who treated me with dignity. Who loved me no matter how I looked.
Clara was crying.
“And I… I passed the test?”
He came over.
He took his face with his hands.
“Clara, you didn’t just pass the test.
He paused.
You broke the test.
PART 7: THE STATEMENT
He looked her in the eye.
“For ten years, I saw women approach me. For my money. Because of my power. So they could get out. And when they discovered the truth… when they saw the “monster”… they all fled.
Clara was crying in silence.
“But you… you didn’t run away. You didn’t just stay. You took care of me. You cleaned my feet. You fed me. You talked to me tenderly. You kissed my forehead when you thought I was sleeping.
He knelt in front of her.
“Sure, I fell in love with you the first week of marriage. But I couldn’t tell you. Not until you’re sure. Not until I knew you loved me… not the costume.
He pulled out a ring.
A huge diamond.
But it was not the important thing.
The important thing was the words.
“Clara, do you want to really marry me?” No debts to pay? No obligations? No lies? Just you and me?
Clara fell to her knees in front of him.
He hugged him.
And cried.
He cried like he hadn’t cried in his life.
“Yes,” he whispered. A thousand times yes. I love you. I love you from day one. Not the “Millionaire Pig.” To you. The man who was hiding underneath.
PART 8: THE END
That night, they slept hugged.
In bed.
Together.
For the first time.
And Clara, while he was sleeping, stroked her face.
The real face.
The beautiful face.
The face I had loved from the beginning.
Because she had always seen it.
Always.
The next morning…
Clara went down to breakfast.
And he found his father at the door.
“Clara—is that true? Isn’t Don Baste…
“Dad,” she interrupted, “Don Baste was always the most beautiful man in the world. Only you never saw it.
His father looked down.
“Daughter, forgive me. For selling you. For not seeing what was in front of me.
Clara looked at him.
“Dad, the debt is paid. But the damage you did to me… that one doesn’t pay with money.
He cried.
I know.
“So go. And don’t come back. Because my family is now him.
And closed the door.
A year later.
Clara and Sebastian — because that was their real name — were on the terrace of their mansion.
With his son in his arms.
A beautiful baby.
With his father’s eyes.
And his mother’s smile.
Sebastian looked at her.
You know what?
What?
“The best business I ever did was that fifty million debt.
She’s laughing.
Why?
Because if not, I would never have met you.
He kissed her.
And Clara knew.
He knew it was worth it.
Every tear.
Every night of fear.
Every time he cleaned his feet.
Because everything had brought her here.
To the arms of the man I loved.
Of the man they all called “monster.”
But for her…
He was always an angel.
Moraleja:
Never judge someone by their appearance.
Never confuse outer beauty with inner beauty.
And never, under any circumstances, underestimate a woman who loves unconditionally.
Because true love…
He doesn’t see the “skin.”
See the soul.
And Sebastian’s soul was always beautiful.
I just needed someone to see her.
And Clara… Clara saw her from day one.
