“How much?” I asked.
She removed her glasses.
“More than I expected. Especially for October.”
I sat beside her and examined the amount.
She wasn’t exaggerating.
“I can take another shift,” I offered.
“Rachel, you’re already working six days a week.”
“Then I’ll make it seven.”
She looked at me sharply.
“Don’t even think about it. You’re going to wear yourself out.”
“Dad used to work seven days sometimes.”
