I moved carefully. Quietly. The following morning, I contacted my bank’s fraud department and explained, in the calmest voice I could muster, that a family member had accessed my account without permission. They locked it instantly. After that, I opened a completely new account at a different branch—one Sena couldn’t possibly reach.
Then I called my parents. I told them that work was getting unpredictable and that I’d need to pause the financial help for a bit. My mother sighed with such exaggerated disappointment that it sounded like I had ruined her entire year.
“Well,” she said sharply, “I guess your sister will just have to manage everything on her own now.”
