“Let him talk.”
Everything went still.
The boy swallowed hard. His hands were shaking now.
“I clean under planes,” he said. “I wipe down the bottoms. I help around the hangars. I’m not supposed to mess with anything, but I saw somebody under this one.”
The attendant gave a sharp little laugh. “This is insane.”
Nathan ignored her.
“What did you see?”
The boy looked at the underside of the plane again before answering.
“I saw a man open a panel and put something in there.”
The wind carried the smell of fuel across the runway.
