“Sir—please—don’t board that jet!”
The words came out broken.
More scream than sentence.
Nathan Cole stopped cold on the tarmac with his phone still at his ear, one polished shoe halfway to the stairs of his charter plane. The engines were already humming. The flight crew was ready. Two men from his legal team stood nearby pretending not to stare.
Then everyone stared.
Because the kid who had grabbed Nathan’s sleeve looked like he had no business being anywhere near that runway.
He was maybe twelve. Maybe younger.
Barefoot on hard concrete.
