“At 11:42 P.M. During My Best Friend’s Bachelorette Party, My Smart Scale Sent Me An Alert: A 115-Pound ‘Guest’ Had Just Weighed In At My House. My Husband Was Home Alone With Our Kids. The Number Didn’t Match Any Of Them.”

“It’s probably nothing,” I told the girls. “Liam struggles to sleep sometimes. Maybe he weighed something on the scale.”

“Sweetie, what would Liam be weighing that’s 115 pounds?” Lila asked, putting her phone away.

Hannah was already grabbing her purse. “We are not sitting here while something weird is happening at your house.”

“We’ll go check,” Brooke said. “We’re coming with you.”

Five minutes later we were crammed into a taxi, knees knocking, the driver eyeing us in the mirror like he wasn’t sure what he’d signed up for.

“Just text him,” Jenna said. “Ask if everything’s okay. Nothing specific.”

“That’s when they start lying,” Marissa added.

Everything okay? I typed.

The reply came fast. Yep. Kids are asleep. You have fun 😉

“He says everything’s fine.”
