Applying moisturizer soon after washing helps trap some of that water inside the skin.
Step 3: Gently remove loose dead skin
If necessary, use a soft foot file, loofah, or pumice stone.
The key word is gently.
You are not trying to grind away the entire callus in one session.
Avoid blades, razors, metal graters, or aggressive scraping.
Over-exfoliating can irritate the skin and make cracks worse.
Step 4: Apply petroleum jelly
Massage a generous layer of plain petroleum jelly over the heel.
Pay particular attention to:
- Dry edges
- Rough calluses
- Flaky areas
- Shallow cracks
The goal is to create a protective coating over the dry skin.
Step 5: Put on cotton socks
Wear clean cotton socks overnight.
