I opened the makeup bag. Foundation. Powder. A small tube of red lipstick — the same shade I had worn on our wedding day.

He did not see the phone hidden beneath the folded towel, still recording. He did not know the hallway cameras had captured everything from three different angles. He did not know that at 4:12 in the morning, while he slept peacefully, I had already emailed the footage to my attorney.
