I clenched my teeth.
“It will not happen again, sir.”
Christopher left.
I waited until his footsteps disappeared.
Raymond opened his eyes fully.
“Do not tell him a single thing,” Raymond instructed quietly.
I nodded.
At exactly four, Dr. Samuel Wallace arrived with a black leather briefcase. From it, he removed a plain white box with only a handwritten chemical name on top. He filled a syringe with clear liquid and injected it directly into Raymond’s IV line.
Ten minutes later, Raymond’s breathing changed dramatically.
His fingers stopped responding.
