“If you’re going to explain who you are, do it quickly.”
Sarah lowered herself into the jump seat behind them and reached for the restraint.
“I’m a former test pilot,” she said, fastening the belt. “I’ve flown aircraft after hydraulic failures.”
“Not this aircraft,” Park said.
“No,” Sarah answered. “Not this one.”
The plainness of the reply seemed to unsettle Park more than a boast would have.
Sarah leaned forward enough to see the flight controls and the indications across the panel.
“How long since System A began dropping?”
“Less than two minutes,” Park said. “B followed almost immediately. C went next.”
“Did they fail at exactly the same time?”
